🌟 Second Graders are Out of This World!
Presented by Charlie Elliott Astronomy
Second graders will team up with the Astronomy Club for an exciting journey through the solar system. Students will explore the Sun, Moon, Earth, and other planets while learning how they move and shine.
With hands-on activities, interactive visuals, and real astronomy tools, students will:
-
Learn how the Sun is a star that looks bigger and brighter than other stars because it is closer to Earth (S2E1a,b).
-
Discover how the Moon and Sun appear to move across the sky in patterns we can observe every day (S2E2a).
-
Understand how the Moon changes shape in the sky throughout the month (S2E2b).
-
Explore how the Sun’s position in the sky changes from morning to night and helps us tell time (S2E2c).
-
Talk about how shadows change based on the Sun’s position in the sky (S2E2d).
This day of discovery will spark curiosity and help students see how space science connects to their world. It's going to be out of this world!
