Event

We’ll be at Eleven Mile State Park on Wednesday, August 12th from 9 -11 PM practicing our social distancing and mask wearing with a little community star gazing along the way. We’re inviting everyone that wants to enjoy some fresh air and dark skies to join us in the parking lot area immediately North of the North Marina. Bring your lawnchairs, blankets, masks. We encourage people to bring their own binoculars or telescopes for their personal use as due to COVID-19 concerns, our telescopes will not be available for public viewing.
Our plan is, after it’s dark enough, to give a quick green-laser-pointer walk through of the night sky and Summer constellations and asterisms and then another short talk about the Perseid Meteor shower and where and when to look. Then we’ll sit back and relax and enjoy the night sky playing “spot the meteor”!
This is brought to you by the Colorado State Parks department and Colorado Springs Astronomical Society.
NOTE: The pin location on the Map is not accurate. Find 11 Mile Marina on the map and we’ll be in the parking lot area just North (above) that. The State Park will set out signs so you can also look for those to find us!
