Event

The Champaign-Urbana Astronomical Society (CUAS) is pleased to announce a special presentation by Mr. Ken Jacobs, a key member of NASA's Exploration Ground Systems Artemis Launch Team at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. The event will take place at the Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College on Thursday evening, August 8, 2024, at 7:00 PM.

Mr. Jacobs will provide an in-depth look at NASA's ambitious Artemis manned space program. This event offers a unique opportunity for attendees to gain insights into the future of space exploration and NASA's plans to return humans to the Moon — and eventually Mars. There will be a question-and- answer session following the presentation. The next launch of Artemis could come as early as September 2025 with four crew members aboard.

"We are thrilled to host Mr. Jacobs at our August meeting," said Angie Boesche, President of CUAS. "His expertise and insights into the Artemis program are sure to inspire our members and the local community."

The event is open to the public at no charge and no tickets needed.
