EAS March 15th Meeting - 2 PM social hour - 3:00 pm presentation - Everett MAIN public library, downtown Everett this month.
JWST: Revealing the Invisible Universe - How color images are constructed from IR light image channels
The JWST is an infra-red space telescope with abilty to capture images across a broad range of IR frequencies, or bands.
This talk describes how those raw images are processed and combined to produce useful and appealing final photos.
Both enhancing scientific understanding of what images show, and artistic appeal and beauty can be improved by making choices about how to bring those raw data together.
These steps have been performed on the photos that you see released by NASA, and the data is publicly available to anyone who wishes to perform their own processing, so can be combined and processed in unique ways to bring out alternate details, and create images of stunning beauty.
The meeting will begin at 2 pm for a social hour, then presentation will begin at 3:00 pm in the Main Library downstairs auditorium.
