Event

For our main presentation at the April 15th Fort Worth Astronomical Society general meeting, we're delighted to present Dr. Dean Pesnell, project scientist for the Solar Dynamics Observatory.

Dr. Pesnell will give us insights into the Earth-orbiting observatory and its mission to monitor the Sun's magnetic activity, including its generation, release, and impact on the Earth and surrounding space.  Those different color images and videos of the Sun's daily activity?  Many of those are taken by the SDO through filters, revealing the Sun's explosive activity in different frequencies of light.
