Come join us as a visitor or a member at FWAS' monthly General Meeting, where we gather to meet new people in the hobby, experience a presentation by an expert on an astronomy-related topic, learn about upcoming celestial events and get to know a constellation, hear about the club's public outreach efforts, and discuss current club business.  For members who wish to join online, an invitation with a link to the interactive Zoom call will be sent out via email one week prior to the meeting.

For this month's guest presenter, we'll be hosting Dr. Philip Metzger, planetary scientist and director of the Stephen W. Hawking Center for Microgravity Research and Education at the University of Central Florida.  His research involves the development of lunar mining and the use of lunar resources for construction.

After 50 years, the world is finally returning to the moon, and the stage is set for our future presence there.  There are already plans for building landing pads, outposts, factories, and data centers... the construction of a permanent base.  In his presentation titled "Building Infrastructure and Factories on the Moon", Dr. Metzger will give an overview of the challenges, technologies, and economic motivation for lunar construction.
