Come join us as a visitor or a member at FWAS' monthly General Meeting, where we gather to meet new people in the hobby, experience a presentation by an expert on an astronomy-related topic, learn about upcoming celestial events and get to know a constellation, hear about the club's public outreach efforts, and discuss current club business. For members who wish to join online, an invitation with a link to the interactive Zoom call will be sent out via email one week prior to the meeting.

For our main presentation at this Tuesday's July 21st Fort Worth Astronomical Society meeting, we am pleased to welcome Dr. Zheng Zheng, Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Utah.
Gravity bends light. Massive objects, such as stars, galaxies, and galaxy clusters, can act as lenses that magnify and distort the light from distant background objects. This phenomenon, known as gravitational lensing, has become a powerful tool for studying the universe. In Dr. Zheng's talk, Nature's Biggest Telescopes, he will introduce the gravitational lensing effect, briefly discuss its history, and present examples of its applications in astronomy.
