This is a great, small star party presented by the Idaho Falls Astronomical Society and is open to the public (park fees may apply). This star party is nestled in the Caves Area of the Craters of the Moon National Monument. Camping spots are available at the campground (first come, first serve). This star party gives you the opportunity to roam from telescope to telescope discovering the hidden universe.
The Idaho Falls Astronomical Society members are willing to share views through their telescopes, so there is no need to bring any equipment. Please be respectful of their equipment and do not grab the eyepiece or optical tubes. Just look through the eyepieces and feel free to ask any questions. We do recommend that you do not turn on flashlights after dark unless it's a red flashlight pointed away from the observers eyes. Also, dress warm because it can get cold here at night. Please arrive before sunset so you don't blind the observers' eyes with car headlights. Feel free to leave at anytime, just let the observers know so they can shield their eyes.
This is the darkest site I know and only contains a small hint of light pollution from the nearby town of Arco. You could discover the park during the day and the rest of the universe at night. See you there!
