Comments and anecdotes about the event:
There was a great turnout for the Spring Fling. Many activities were available for the students. The astronomy booth provided students to learn about astronomy science from gravity, seeing a solar eclipse for the visually challenged, ranking the universe from smallest to largest, and solar motion through the seasons. It was fun to see how the solar motion activity helped the guests understand different points on the eastern horizon where the Sun rises. The activity for the students was to place a Sun sticker with their birth date written on it onto the poster where the Sun would rise on their birthday. This took some careful thinking. I would then revel how close they got. Some got pretty close. Showing them the solar motion model clarified the tilt of the Earth and the seasons.

Jerelyn Ramirez: Where does the Sun rise on your birthday? The students placed their birthday Sun where they thought the Sun would rise on the day of their birth. Here we have seven guesses.
