The Los Angeles Astronomical Society invites the public to a series of three, FREE astronomy classes taught by members of our organization. In these classes, you will earn about the objects found in the spring skies, how to identify and observe them. Our classes are for ages 10 and up, from a beginner to pro. You will observe objects in the night sky using club-owned telescopes and the incredible 8 Inch telescope in the Garvey Ranch Observatory. If you have your own telescope, you are welcome to bring it along.
You will receive various material to take home with you and to cover that cost, we do ask for a $10.00 material fee which pays for all material for all three classes. You can sign up for the full series of classes or just one or two. Each class is in the casual setting of the Community Center at Garvey Ranch Park in Monterey Park, CA. The classes are held only on Wednesday nights. The classes are scheduled on the following dates:

Your friends and family members are welcome to attend with you. All members of the LAAS are welcome to participate with their friends and family, too.
After each class, you are welcome to stay at the observatory and check out our free Telescope-making class in the workshop or enjoy a star party out on the lawn, weather-permitting. The LAAS members open the Garvey Ranch Observatory to the public every Wednesday night. Please follow the link below to learn more about our "Garvey Nights."
