Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
San Dimas. About 7 scopes including a giant, car mounted refractor that resembled a military cannon. Very popular with the attendees. Seeing was OK. Views of the Moon, Saturn, Alberio, M13, M3. Lots of local lights, a camp fire and flashlights. About 75 people attended. Appreciation from all. Van Webster --------- Just a few words to add to Van's comments: Friday the Sun set behind the hills shortly after I got there but we did get a few minutes of viewing with the PST solar scope. There were 3 HUGE prominences - some of the best I have seen this cycle. At both events, we had good club participation relative to the number of guests, which allowed the guests to spend more time with the scopes. Everyone was very appreciative. John O'Bryan --------------- Evening at San Dimas was interesting, the people at first seem really engaged & kids seem to love the views of the moon mostly. Later, the parents were projecting movies for the kids on a portable screen so our viewer numbers dwindled. Most amazing was the guy with the 11" home - ground, 11 foot refracter mounted to the top of his SUV. Looked like a military canon! His name was Geoff (also) & said he was (former?) LAAS member, but I haven't seen him at other events, but the views through this instrument were spectacular! Geoff Farthing
