Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Jim, James and I met with 28 Girl Scouts and adult leaders at Givhans Ferry State Park to help them work on Astronomy badge requirements. We set up our telescopes for the Girl Scout troops from Summerville and Ridgeville, SC. Due to completely overcast skies, we were unable to observe anything so we worked on getting the Scouts their astronomy badges. Lots of questions and lots of very good answers on astronomy. These young ladies had done their homework. The model Solar System was a huge hit and helped immensely for the evening's event. We finished at 9 PM just as it started to sprinkle rain.
