Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Five LCS club members met at Hampton Plantation State Historic Site for a public astronomy event. We were joined by a couple of guests with telescopes to add to our observing set ups. A total of 40 visitors joined us for a session under a bright moon, making it difficult to view dimmer objects. We are working with the park management to support a request to the International Dark Sky Association that Hampton Plantation be designated a Dark Sky Park and this event was in support of that initiative. Visitors were given a brief summary of the dark sky efforts.
