Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Five members and two spouses were out at the Clubhouse at Kiawah for a private event through Ooh event planners. Conditions were relatively good when we set up at 5:30pm for solar observing. The wind was brisk but it kept away the gnats and mosquitos. Club spokesperson, James Ross, stopped visitors as they parked for the event to let them know we had the telescopes up for all to view. We were optimistic that the forecasted storms would miss us, but by 7:30 ominous clouds moved in. At first, we thought we were safe from the black line of storm clouds approaching, but as they appeared to move closer, we decided to break down our equipment. Good thing we did! We got the last of our gear back into our vehicles when the skies opened up with heavy rain and lightning. Phew! We will try again with this group next week.
