At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, join us at the Purcell Multipurpose Center, located at 1400 Chandler Rd., Purcell, for the city of Purcell’s Movie and Moon Party. This event features lunar viewing with telescopes, science, pizza, and snow cones, and an outdoor screening of a space-themed movie. At 6:30 PM, head inside the Purcell Multi-Purpose Center for a presentation about our solar system by Ten Acre Observatory astronomer Nick Lazzaro, and enjoy science experiments and demonstrations by Mad Science!
Once it gets dark enough, usually around 7:00 p.m., we will fire up a movie and enjoy viewing the moon, Saturn, and other sights! Bring lawn chairs and blankets.
The event is a partnership between the City of Purcell Parks and Recreation Department, the Ten Acre Observatory, the Odyssey Astronomy Club, and the OKC Astronomy Club. We will be joined by Mad Science, Purcell Pioneer Library, and Lunar Sooners! We have many astronomers, professional and amateur, bring out their telescopes to check out the moon and other bodies in the night sky. Everyone gets to enjoy a movie while they play and learn about space!
