At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, join us at the Purcell Multipurpose Center, located at 1400 Chandler Rd., Purcell, for the city of Purcell’s annual Movie and Moon Party. This event features lunar viewing with telescopes, science, pizza, snow cones, and an outdoor screening of a space-themed movie. At 6:30 PM, head inside the Purcell Multi-Purpose Center for a presentation about our solar system by Nick. Enjoy science experiments and demonstrations by Mad Science!
Once it gets dark enough, probably around 7:00 p.m., the movie will start in front of the Multiple Purpose Center (on the south side of the Purcell City Lake), projected onto a large inflatable screen. Telescopes will be out for viewing of the moon, Saturn, and other sights Bring lawn chairs and blankets. This movie night and lunar viewing event is hosted by Purcell Parks & Recreation, Ten Acre Observatory, and the Odyssey Astronomy Club. Volunteers with telescopes are needed. Last year, this event drew some 200 people. If you can volunteer, please contact Nick. The event is a partnership between the City of Purcell Parks and Recreation Department, the Ten Acre Observatory, the Odyssey Astronomy Club, and the OKC Astronomy Club. Joining the event will be Mad Science, and Purcell Pioneer Library.
