I wanted to touch base about our second upcoming astronomy engagement, this one at Camp St. Albans in Mason County, address 251 E Lake Devereaux Rd, Allyn, WA 98524.
 
This would be Tuesday, August 15, with arrival at 7:30 PM to set up and program beginning at 8:30 PM. With it being later in the summer plus a later program start, we won’t have to kill as much time as last month while waiting for it to get dark.
 
I remember hearing about the possibility of engaging members of Tacoma Astronomical Society for this one. That’s great! We’re happy to have anyone who would like to do this. We just would like to be sure the kids get a similar experience as in July, with some initial classroom learning in preparation for telescope usage and stargazing. We are expecting 28 kids (20 middle and 8 high school).
 
I am told we will have access to power outlets if needed, but internet will again be unavailable, most likely.
 
I have attached a PDF with driving directions and a map of the camp, with the location we’ll be in highlighted (second page). We will start in the Huckleberry Hut and move up to the playfield for stargazing—that’s where you’ll want to set up telescopes. The map doesn’t show it but the two locations are within short walking distance of each other.
 
I am still waiting on confirmation of parking instructions, but typically St. Albans does back-in parking in the main parking area. I have asked for you to be allowed to drive up to the playfield to set up at the very least, and I will let you know if/when I hear more.
