Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Views of the night sky were enjoyed by members of the club and public alike! Some details from President, Paul Ostwald: Was a very good night! Had a large turnout of both members with scopes and the public. I did not get a full count of members - but at least 8 I think. Was hard to estimate the number of the public but seemed at least 60! I showed Comet Lemmon early as Ray said. I was on the eastern end of the line and had the lowest tree line where Lemmon was. I probably showed half of those there Lemmon before it set. Used my 8” dob. Was bright and easy for people to see. But just a hint of tail visible visually. I think everyone was excited to see a comet. Most had not heard about it (so it seemed). I then went to Saturn. Showed most that in my 5” reflector. Had time to set that mount up after Lemmon set. Seemed like a lot more kids there than usual. Had a lot of families (some were camping there) with 2-3 kids. Many recognized it even with the rings close to edge-on. Also showed Andromeda galaxy, M13, M57, double cluster, ET cluster, Dumbell and a few more popular objects later. I did not do comet Swan. Was about 45 degrees when I left. A bit chilly but not too bad. Some dew but not like one of the earlier skywatches when things were soaked! Thanks everyone for a great event!
