Event

Enjoy Wednesday night stargazing sessions at Francis Park!
All are welcome to join us! Stop by and look at the Moon or bring your observing gear. This event is scheduled near the First Quarter Moon each month. We provide views of craters, mountains, and shadows on the Lunar surface. Members of the St. Louis Astronomical Society also share telescope views of planets when they are visible. You may even be able to observe a distant double star!

Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
NO BUGS or Humidity!!! Very pleasant 75 degrees and clear skies. Perfect night for the first Francis Park Stargazing event of 2024, and our 20th anniversary for this event. Provided telescope views of the waxing gibbous Moon, Jupiter, all 4 Galilean moons, Mizar, M42, and M44. About 250 adults and kids attended this event - much more than usual. A few folks said they discovered the event due to our signs in the park.
