The Avery Point Astronomy Class (PHYS 1020) together with the Thames Amateur Astronomical Society (TAAS) invites members of the UConn community, their guests and private citizens, to join us for our three nights of sky observations, listed below.

Weather permitting, we will meet on Wednesdays, at 8:00 PM, on the southwest corner of the lawn by the Long Island Observation platform, see attached map.

Come see Saturn rings while you still can:

A fast-approaching and significant cosmic event will soon dramatically alter our view of this magnificent planet. Come March 2025, Saturn’s majestic rings will become virtually invisible to earth-based observers. This phenomenon occurs due to the unique tilt of Saturn’s axis, which will position the rings edge-on to our line of sight.
