Come on down to the Downtown Digital Dome Theatre and Planetarium at the Challenger Learning Center and enjoy the free planetarium show on Saturday February 1 at 10:00 AM. "February Skies over Tallahassee" is a live show presented by the Tallahassee Astronomical Society. The February sky will be[WS1] reviewed including prominent constellations, stars and planet positions. The constellations Canis Major, Canis Minor and Gemini will be highlighted for "Learning Constellations". The stellar nursery Orion Nebula, the brightest emission nebula in the sky, is the “The Binocular Object-of-the-Month”. The Messier Object-of-the-Month is the reflection nebula M78, which is also located in the constellation Orion. Audience interaction includes holds for audience questions and a planetarium sky test to see what you learned. The Learning Astronomy Topic-of-the-Month is "Astrology is Bad Astronomy".
Come early as there are only 130 planetarium seats. However, “February Skies over Tallahassee” will be repeated at 11:00 am for a reduced planetarium price of $3.00 for both children and adults and free for Challenger members.
“February Skies over Tallahassee” is also included in the regular planetarium show schedule during the month of February at the normal price including the first Wednesday of the month (February 5th) at 2:00 pm for retired persons, home schoolers and all.
