** Comet viewing at PMO Saturday Night - New Time **

Time change to 6:30pm

Please join us for a public viewing night at the Paul Morgan Observatory on the UCC campus on Saturday October 19th at 6:30pm. The primary target for the evening is the Tscuhinshan-ATLAS comet which is in a prime location for viewing. The forecast, however, calls for average seeing which is not ideal. In the event cloud cover is too much for the PMO telescopes an alternate source of live images will be used.

Come and learn not only about Tsuchinchan-ATLAS but details about the anatomy of a comet and what to look for when viewing one.

Dress really warm and bring your own chair and blanket for seating. There will be limited seating inside the observatory but a blanket will still be needed.

Hope to see you there.

Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
The goal was to view comet Tscuhinshan/ATLAS which was supposed to be prominent in the western sky. Used the PMO telescopes, Seestar S50, 6 inch reflector, multiple 3 inch refractors, and binoculars. Conditions were not good enough to see the comet with any of this equipment. Switched to PMO telescopes for the following targets: Whirlpool Galaxy Andromeda Galaxy Trifid Nebula Dumbbell Nebula others
