- We have agreements with BBNC and are covered by insurance so we MUST have an accounting of those who use this opportunity. Simply send an email to me and Jeff (Observatory Director cc'ed here) for each night you intend to be there.
- IF you've gone through the observatory training with Jeff and passed, and want to use the observatory, send us an email - first come, first reserved, and if you want to partner up/share time, indicate with whom.
- For members-only star parties you may bring family & friends but you are responsible for them.
- Please be mindful of others' observational time. Unlike an outreach event, folks may have a schedule of objects they're trying to achieve and may not be able to accommodate special viewing requests. Do engage with fellow members as this is a great opportunity to get to know folks.
- BRING YOUR MEMBERSHIP Card (and preferably wear it). It is usual for the police to patrol through at night and you'll want to quickly identify your affiliation/purpose.
- Others may be using other parts of the vast property and are being made aware of our possible presence (e.g., outdoor school). I'm told there have been some incidents recently so please be aware of your surroundings, keep your phone handy, and be prepared for other authorized persons.
- As always, be sure to pack in/pack out what you bring and leave the site better than we found it.
- Headlights? White lights? Please drive in/out SLOWLY and carefully, using as little white light as possible. We have imagers in the club who appreciate caution. Ask before using lasers too.
