Comments and anecdotes about the event:
I got there at 05:00 And met someone from Houston, who had driven all night to get there at the same time, we got the last glimpse clear sky But we weren’t able to get our phones out in time to take a picture before the clouds rolled in. It was partially cloudy all morning, and around 10:00, The police came and shut down access to the park meaning that we got there early and lucky enough that we are in the exclusive club that got to observe it from that beautiful lake Buchanan. I set up my DJI and iPhone to take video of the eclipse from when the moon first entered the corona sphere until around 10 minutes to when the moon would exit the sun when the clouds just became overcast. Totality was amazing. We had 4 1/2 minutes and there was a break in the clouds so we got to observe the entire event. The iPhone and DGI cameras were not crisp enough to capture any of the cool elements likepearls or prominences. However, some of the people were able to get better pictures and I did make some friends. I did talk about the club while I was there to let people know that I was representing Westminster astronomical society.
