The University of Montana's Blue Mountain Observatory hosts Open House events open to the public throughout the summer. See the attached schedule for official dates and start times. WMAA club members are encouraged to attend and volunteer to help in outreach about the night sky alongside the Physics and Astronomy Department staff and students that operate the observatory.

If you would like to volunteer, you do not need to purchase tickets - please reach out to bmo@mso.umt.edu to get on the contact list for weather updates for staff and volunteers. It's imperative that you read all of the information on the observatory's website to ensure a pleasant viewing experience, and please follow their directions to get to the observatory - map applications like Google can lead you astray. Club members are encouraged to arrive an hour before the official start time to set up their equipment, and anyone volunteering at the event can drive their vehicle closer to the observatory than where the public is allowed to park by the lookout.

Note that observing events are weather dependent, and anyone attending or volunteering should check to ensure that the event will proceed before driving up the mountain!
