Event

Dozens of amateur astronomers, astronomy enthusiasts, and families will gather at Camp Cullom for immersion in the hobby and camaraderie of astronomy at the 20th Indiana Family Star Party.
 
This is a regional family-oriented star party sponsored by the Wabash Valley Astronomical Society, Indiana Astronomical Society, and Muncie Astronomy Club.  The public is invited to attend on July 21-22.  Full-event registrants may arrive and camp as early as Tuesday, July 18, for additional observinig time.  The event ends at noon on Sunday, July 23.

The constllation-finding program, Sky Trekker, will start at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.  Astronomy-related presentations take place on Saturday afternoon.  Stargazing occurs every night of the event, weather permitting.

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Approximately 107 amateur astronomers and families registered for the full event, and the remaining attendees were daily walk-ins. A powered-parachute flyover took place on Saturday evening. Between showers, at least a few hours of observing were available each evening. Speaker presentations included the James Webb Space Telescope, the Peregrine 1 lunar lander, and the 2024 total solar eclipse.
