We begin with a sunspot viewing event at Turkey Run State Park in the afternoon and then move to Shades State Park in the evening for some of the darkest night sky viewing in Indiana.

Instructions for the Public:
Weather permitting, we'll be set up in the late afternoon at Turkey Run between the pool and the Nature Center. In the evening, the DNR staff at Shades will have several Astronomy Day activities. At dusk, ask the DNR staff where the stargazing will be.

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
All afternoon we could only view the sun through "sucker holes" in the clouds. Fortunately a large sunspot was visible that seemed to excite the people who saw it. The evening stargazing event at Shades State Park was clouded out.
