WELCOME TO HAWAIIAN SKIES

The Hawaiian Astronomical Society (HAS) welcomes you to a star party where you will see the wonders of the night sky. We hold three public star parties each month, weather permitting. Two of our public star parties are in urban areas near first quarter moon so you can observe our nearest neighbor and view the craters and maria (seas but no water). Our other star party is at our dark sky location where there is no moon but you can see the true beauty of the night sky with little light pollution. Star parties begin at dusk and last until around 9:30 pm. There is no charge for our public star parties. We encourage you to come back often since the sky changes so some things visible tonight will not be visible in a month or two. There is also a members-only star party at our dark sky location once a month with no moon. Our membership includes both visual amateur astronomers, and a growing contingent of amateur astro-photographers. We enjoy sharing our Hawaiian skies with people of all ages. We offer our services free of charge to public and private schools, as well as non-profit groups like the Boy and Girl scouts. The Hawaiian Astronomical Society is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting amateur astronomy in Hawaii.
