MIRA Astronomy Club
About Us
The MIRA Astronomy Club welcomes you to join us in experiencing the awe of the night sky and learning about our solar system and the universe. Although astronomy is not our profession, it is a shared passion. We generally serve amateur astronomers (even brand new amateur astronomers) on the Monterey Peninsula and in Monterey County; all are welcome.
The club's focus involves these primary activities:
Presentations on Astronomy and Astrophysics topics
Field Trips to events/presentations by other organizations
Club Star Parties: Nighttime Observing Sessions, and
Public Outreach for Regional and National Parks visitors.
When: We meet quarterly on the second Thursday from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the following months: February, May, August and November.
Where: MIRA (Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy), 200 8th Street, Marina, CA, 10 miles North of Monterey, CA, and 35 miles South of Santa Cruz, CA.
If you are not already a member and on our mailing list, please contact the club at mac@mira.org.
