Comments and anecdotes about the event:
We set up a library telescope on the porch of the Mabel Boswell branch library in Bryant, AR, to get ready for their weekly “Space Club” after school meeting and our first visit to this library. We planned to look at the moon, but the clouds were too thick. Instead, we looked at trees and transformers off in the distance and the all were surprised they could read the numbers on the transformer. Only a few of the after school club came - to be expected in the week before Thanksgiving. However we met a whole new audience of parents and children coming to the library, so the event was a success. The librarian was encouraged by the response to having the telescope on the porch and will be scouting local areas for future sky viewing.
