Event

The "Gateway to the Stars" program is a unique opportunity to showcase our club and St. Louis to visitors from around the world.

We setup at the Arch Main Entrance Plaza where the traffic flow is the heaviest. The park issues a limited number of parking placards that allow volunteers to park on the north side of Market St., just west of Memorial Dr., adjacent to the Plaza.  This is less than 100 yards from the viewing area making access very convenient and easy. A presentation will be held at 7 pm in the Education Classroom inside the Arch Visitor Center, regardless of the weather.  If skies are clear, the telescope viewing is sometimes very well attended during the early part of the time, so we suggest setting up about 7:30 even though its not dark yet..  The Visitor Center will close at 8 pm.

Instructions for the Public:

Check out the stars on the Gateway Arch Entrance Plaza!  The Moon, planets, and bright stars cut through the light pollution and can be seen from the middle of downtown St. Louis.  These Gateway to the Stars telescope viewing sessions will be preceded by an Astronomy or National Park related educational progam, held inside the Arch Visitor Center in the Education Classroom.
