The monthly meeting of the Lake County Astronomical will be a presentation By Dr. Wayne Osborn. He will talking about the Glass Plate Collection which has been taken using the Great 40″ Refracture at the Yerkes Observatory. These plates go back to the late 1800’s and have been preserved to this day. Dr. Osborn has many years working with and cataloging these images.  This event is free and open to the Public. Please join us.

Volo Bog
Volo Bog was dedicated as an Illinois Nature Preserve in 1970. Three years later, it was registered as a National Natural Landmark with the United States Department of the Interior. More than 1,100 additional acres of land have been purchased to protect and enlarge the state preserve, which now includes marshes, prairie restoration areas, woodlands and two other bogs.

Notes:
