Early Tuesday morning on October 6th, starting at 08:14 UTC (04:14 AM EDT) the Moon will occult Europa's (1st contact).  Jupiter's 1st contact will begin at 04:20 AM.  The Great Red Spot (GRS) will not yet be visible.

The Moon will be relatively low on the horizon (17 degrees elevation) at azimuth 084 degrees.  The vantage at the Oceanfront will provide the best view (weather permitting).

Europa will again be visible on the upper limb of the Moon (area of no shadow) at 5:20 AM EDT. Jupiter will begin to emerge at 05:24 AM and be fully visible at 5:26 AM.  Ganymede will finally emerge from the occultation at 5:27 AM, completing the morning's occultation.  As a special treat, the GRS will be visible on Jupiter at the end of the occultation.
