Weather permitting, SoVerA will provide solar viewing opportunities on the Saturday of the Chester Fall Festival Weekend. We will have at least one H-alpha solar scope and one neutral density scope.

1879 Perkinsville Schoolhouse, Hoisington Field

A historic, renovated schoolhouse used for community services and events. Village of Perkinsville, Town of Weathersfield with Ascutney, VT. (http://Weathersfieldvt.org) North of Springfield, south of Windsor, VT.    Hoisington Field surrounds the building offering unobstructed areas for both solar and night sky observing.

Notes:

For night observing in the field, please back motor vehicles into parking spots pointing away from the field to protect participants night vision from headlights, thank you!

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
The Chester event on Sunday was mostly overcast, but there was 30 to 45 minutes of solar viewing sprinkled through the day. About 3 dozen people got to look (safely!) at the Sun with our H-alpha scope.
