Event

Aug 11th,  2-3:30 pm, with observing on Aug 12th, 9:30 – 11 pm
Meteor showers are one of the most spectacular regular celestial events that don’t require any special equipment to view them. Called “shooting stars,” “falling stars,” or meteors, these spectacular streaks in the sky have been a source of wonder for millennia. This class will cover the origin and nature of meteor showers as well as the best times and ways to observe them. We’ll pay special attention to the Perseid meteor shower, which is one of the most reliable and remarkable showers this time of year. Weather permitting, we’ll plan a meteor shower viewing for the evening after this class.
