Club member, Mark Whipple, will lead a 6-session class series on Thursdays from 2-4 p.m. at the UNC-Asheville's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The topic is Moons of the Solar System.
The course begins on January 13, and it continues on every Thursday through February 17.
Course Description: Our solar system has eight planets (not nine, sorry), and they are fascinating objects. Equally interesting and much less well known are the nearly 200 moons orbiting around those planets. We will explore the origins, characteristics, and bizarre features of many of these bodies, discuss some of the baffling mysteries about them, and justify why Earth's moon may be the strangest and most unique one of them all.
Fees apply, and you must register through UNC-Asheville OLLI. Find out more...
