Presentation: Club Member and High School Physics Teacher, JesseSkaggs, will present: "How Spacecraft Manage Heat in the Vacuum of Space". Since convection isn't available, spacecraft have to carefully balance absorbing and radiating energy. Jesse will explain why spacecraft are often white, silver or covered with "gold foil", how multi-layer insulation works and how JWST, the Orion spacecraft and spacesuits manage extreme temperature conditions.
