Title: An Evening with "The Pope's Astronomer": Brother Guy Consolmagno on Science, Faith, and Curious Questions

Event Info:

We are thrilled to announce an extraordinary and unique event for our club. Please join us for an in-person talk by the renowned planetary scientist and Director Emeritus of the Vatican Observatory, Brother Guy Consolmagno, SJ.

Brother Guy is a singular figure in the world of astronomy. An MIT-educated planetary scientist with a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, he has conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard and MIT and served as a Peace Corps volunteer. Since 1993, he has been a researcher at the Vatican Observatory, where his work focuses on meteorites, asteroids, and the evolution of our solar system. He currently serves as the President of the Meteoritical Society and has been honored with an asteroid bearing his name (4597 Consolmagno) and the Carl Sagan Medal for excellence in public communication.

In this highly engaging talk, Brother Guy will share the amusing, profound, and downright strange questions he receives as "The Pope's Astronomer." From the latest results of the James Webb Space Telescope to questions about life in the universe and the intersection of faith and science, he'll explore what our curiosity reveals about the human condition in the 21st century.

This is a rare opportunity to hear from a world-class scientist who bridges two great traditions of exploring truth. Bring your own questions—foolish or profound!

We look forward to seeing you for what promises to be a memorable and enlightening evening.
