Title: Space Food: From Squeezy Tubes to Chicken Wings: Shannon Sha
About Our Speaker:
Shannon Sha is not only a dedicated board member and co-program director at ASLI, but she also brings boundless energy and curiosity to everything she does. She has helped shape our club's 2026 program lineup, and now she's stepping up to the podium herself for what promises to be one of the most entertaining and informative talks of the year.
About the Talk:
What do astronauts eat when they're floating hundreds of miles above Earth? How do you cook a meal without gravity? And does that famous freeze-dried ice cream actually taste any good?
Shannon will take us on a mouthwatering journey through the history and science of space food – from the early days of squeeze tubes and bite-sized cubes to today's gourmet space meals and even the challenge of growing fresh food aboard the ISS. Expect fun facts, surprising stories, and maybe even a taste test or two (stay tuned for details).
This talk is designed to be fun, energetic, and interesting for all ages – whether you're a seasoned astronomer or someone who just loves food with a side of rocket science.
Come hungry for knowledge (and maybe a snack). We promise you'll never look at an astronaut's dinner the same way again.
Clear skies and bon appétit!
