The New Haven Astronomical Society presents: Stars in the Winter Sky, a program for all ages. Bring the whole family to learn about the upcoming Lunar eclipse and how to star hop to tour through the winter skies finding star clusters, nebulae, galaxies—astronomical objects that can be viewed through the library’s lending telescope, with educator and amateur astronomer Jim Mazur.
Also learn about a wide variety of meteorites by getting hands-on with the collection of the Astronomical Society of New Haven, brought to you by collection curator and educator Al Washburn. Touch a meteorite that was formed at the same time as our solar system and see the unusual patterns that form in the iron-nickel meteorites as they sped through our atmosphere toward Earth’s surface!
