Event

The Chesapeake Central Library will be hosting a modest science fiction and fantasy convention indoors, and are thrilled to give us a place to set up solar scopes, a tent and table outdoors to share some science fact with attendees (and hapless library patrons!).  We'll be setting up outside in a likely location, very probably within easy reach of the food truck(s)!

Here there be dragons...and spaceships, unicorns, robots, and more! Our annual fantasy and science fiction mini-con is back with panels, cosplay, vendors, games, and fun.

You never know what you'll face around every corner so mark your calendars and be prepared.

Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Hot day at FantaSci, where we supported Chesapeake Central Library's science fiction and fantasy mini-convention. Conditions were great for public solar astronomy, and we wowed many fest goers on their way in-and-out of the library. Showing off the day's incredibly active Sun netted lots of questions and plenty of interest for future events.

Striving to beat the heat, a group of folks venturing out to FantaSci at Chesapeake Central Library pause to put some solar science into the mix of the day's science fantasy. The day proved to be a battle between the beauty of the Sun and the oppressive heat it causes, but a lot of fun was had by over 150 visitors! Photo by J. Mitchell.
