If you're off for Veterans Day this year why not come uptown and see something truly stellar.
Watch tiny Mercury travel cross the Sun the morning of November 11, 2019.
Mercury will be transitting the Sun for the first time since 2016. The transit - or passage of a planet across the face of the Sun is a relatively rare occurrence. As seen from Earth, only transits of Mercury and Venus are possible.
There won't be another opportunity to see this until 2032 - 13 years from now!
The full transit will occur between 7.36am & 1.04pm.
Unless we get clouded out, CAAC will be set up with special telescopes safe for solar viewing from 9am - 1pm out at 1st Ward park in Uptown Charlotte.
We'd love you to stop by and see us - and see this rare event for yourselves.
