Event

The winter sky has more bright stars than other seasons!
Weather permitting, members of the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society will show you constellations, bright stars and planets. Learn to use the library telescope that you can check out like a book! Star charts will be provided.

Bring your own telescope you if want to show off your favorite celestial objects. Dress warmer than you think you need to. We'll be right outside the front door of the library.

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
We had a small but interested and interesting group of visitors. Instead of mostly locals coming, we had a park interpreter from Plum Bayou (Toltec) Mounds and visitors from outlying towns. The park interpreter was wanting to learn more about the sky and its stories, plus what she could do with youth visitors during the daytime. Jupiter and its moons were the telescope object of interest, as well as Orion, the Winter Hexagon, and the Chinese Space Station fly over.
