Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Parents are the ones excited to come to Space Club! Although the club is designed for teens and tweens, there were more younger and home schooled youth attending. Carl Frey and I gave a presentation about the upcoming Lunar Eclipse. History, cultural importance, and recent memories of the total solar eclipse that crossed our area were all points of interest. We used the yardstick eclipse and the “How far is the Moon” props for explaining shadows and eclipses, the scale of the Earth-moon-sun sizes, and a bit of how the Artemis mission has to plan navigation before launching. The library where we met is part of the Library Telescope Program. We did a quick show and tell of the telescope and let everyone who wanted look out the window into the woods. Unfortunately he daytime moon was clouded out.
