   It’s an annual NASA event.  Each year, observers around the world come together to celebrate Earth's Moon! Meet with members of the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society and learn how to use the Library Telescope. There’s nothing like seeing the features of the lovely waxing crescent lunar surface up close with your own eyes! 

Observing is considered in a broad context including stories and heritage from different cultures as well as the science and exploration of the moon. It all started when scientists at Goddard Space Flight Center realized they were so caught up with technology that they missed the simple joy of actually looking at the moon.
