Star Party Etiquette:
There are a few things that will enhance everyone’s experience. If you have a red or amber colored low power flashlight, bring it. White light flashlights should have red plastic or ‘tail light tape’ placed over the lens. The red light lets your eyes adapt to the darkness to see the stars better. The light from your regular flashlight or phone can cause you and others to lose their night vision, making it hard to see the stars.

If you have your own telescope and know how to use it - and you don’t mind others looking through it - feel free to bring it. Choose a couple of your favorite objects. Be prepared, people will ask you questions about your telescope and what you are looking at!

Bring your binoculars if you have some, they are good for looking at the night sky.

Dogs on leashes can get tangled with telescopes. Please keep dogs away from the telescope area. Respect the telescope viewing area. Park your vehicle so the headlights are facing away from the viewing area.
