The Houston Astronomical Society (HAS) is planning a major outreach on Friday July 24 at  Space Center Houston | Bringing people & space closer together (SCH) in cooperation with the Foundation for International Space Education (FISE) which will bring 50 students (16-19) from 25 countries to our area  (July 18-August 3, 2026) with a simple assignment: Design a mission to Mars in teams of teams!. The 6:30PM-9:00PM event will also bring the 150 members of SCH, a dozen amateur astronomers and their instruments, and several teachers who will lead children activities and introduce all to microscopy (with an exobiology slant). Talks will be offered in the Destiny auditorium about the Sun and meteorites. Clips from the major space agencies will also be playing in a loop on a dozen  laptops featuring the planets and the major current missions to Venus, Mars and Jupiter along with informative flyers to remember the event by.
