International Observe the Moon Night at Memorial Park!

The Houston Astronomical Society and park visitors like you will gather this night at Memorial Park for good company and excellent Moon- and stargazing! 

International Observe the Moon Night is an annual celebration of lunar observation, science, and exploration. Meet us at the grassy fields and North Lakeside Pavilion of the Clay Family Eastern Glades. We will enjoy the night sky with telescopes, binoculars, and even the unaided eye in this peaceful area of the park.

H.A.S. volunteers love sharing views of planets, stars, and the Moon through their telescopes and binoculars. If you have a telescope or binoculars of your own, do feel free to bring them, even if you might need a little help to get started. We're having a star party, after all!

Location Details

North Lakeside Pavilion, Clay Family Eastern Glades, Memorial Park

The Clay Family Eastern Glades is at the eastern end of Memorial Park, one of the nation's largest urban parks. The lush, open areas of this part of the park offer ample space for telescopes, binoculars, and appreciating the Houston night sky.

The North Lakeside Pavilion is a shelter at the northern end of the Clay Family Eastern Glades. The pavilion offers power, tables, and seating for a large group.

Access this part of the park from East Memorial Loop, north of Memorial Dr.

Parking is $2.20 for 3-hour increments unti 9 p.m. and may be paid by the ParkHouston app or at nearby City of Houston meters by cash or credit card.
