Event Report

Comments and anecdotes about the event:
Hometown fun. Had a interactive and engaging outreach event on Black Holes. I did touch on the Apollo 11 mission 50 year anniversary coming up. I set up a scale model of the Earth and Moon. Earth as 4" with the Moon at 1" ten feet apart. I demonstrated how the Moon is a moving target when the Saturn V rocket carried the astronauts to the Moon. In 3 days the Moon will have moved about 36 counter-clock-wise by the time they would get there. I marked on the floor with masking tape 36 from my starting point to demonstrate this point while moving the Moon to this new location when my spaceship arrived there. I tethered the Earth and Moon together with a 10 foot long string so I could measure the arc and keep the 10 foot distance. During the Black Hole PowerPoint presentation I used some props to demonstrate the information for understanding and clarification. The whole thing went very well.
