The Lima Astronomical Society and Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District are co-hosting a winter star party/meteor watch night. We will meet at the Deep Cut Park, 22900 State Route 66, Spencerville, Ohio at 7:00pm on Friday December 13. If the sky is clear there will be telescopes set up to view objects in the night sky. If there is inclement weather, cloudy and or rain or snow; there will be a program about meteors inside the heated shelterhouse. Dress for the weather in layers, as a clear December night is normally cold. Bring a chair, a warm blanket, binoculars and a telescope if you like.
The Geminid meteor shower is one of the 3 best meteor showers of the year with possibly up to 120 meteors seen per hour in perfect conditions.
